Abstract

SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc. (SWeNT) is the leading manufacturer of Single-wall and Specialty Multi-wall Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) in North America. SWeNT was founded in 2001 to commercialize breakthrough CNT manufacturing technology invented by Professor Daniel Resasco at the University of Oklahoma. This patented CoMoCAT® process (23 issued patents) enables superior control of CNT structure (via selective synthesis) and an inherently scalable process (via fluidized bed reactor platform). In this talk, I will describe what SWeNT is doing, in collaboration with alliance partners, to accelerate the development and commercialization of “tailored” CNT materials that are “easy and safe to use” for Coatings and Composites. Specific examples include CNT inks for printed electronics, CNT nanocomposite pastes for Li-ion batteries and CNT coated fabrics for FRP composites.
